When traveling to another country, you never know what unexpected adventures await. Croatia is an absolutely underrated travel destination and the town of Omiš (AW-mish) is also underrated. But this little town knocked our socks off, built around two mountains, a river and the sea. How can you go wrong?
Parking doesn’t seem to be a difficult experience, although we walked from our hotel (Villa Dvor). The first picture below is best the trailhead. I’ve provided coordinates to the parking lot at the bottom of this blog post for your convenience.

This is a short hike where you pretty much scramble up to the top. Most of my photos are towards the top. Check out this amazing view of Omiš and the island of Brač (broch)…

And another view towards the direction of the coastal town of split…

And at the very top, here is a stunningly beautiful view of the town of Omiš and the Cetina River…

And here’s a pic of Jason and I at Starigrad Fortress. He’s definitely got me beat on style points here 😂, I had an overshirt that I had to shed early on…

And this is a video I made of the crazy views…

So there are two routes you can take to go back. One has more switchbacks and isn’t too crazy. The other is going straight down. We chickened out and took the easy route. Hey, we did take the hard route up!…

And here is the view once you’re back down in Omiš. I have so many beautiful pics of this town that I will share soon.

And here is Starigrad Fortress from close to town-level to finish things off…see it up there?…

This night we ate at an amazing little restaurant in Omiš called Konoba Joskan. I would highly recommend this place. We basically walked around town and found the place that was vibin’ – the smell and local crowd let us know this was the place we should eat. You have to do that sometimes when you’re out of the firm grasp of Google Maps. If you eat there, let me know what you think!
One Konoba Joskan pic to give you a glimpse of my future Omiš post…

Trail Tips:
- Strenuous Hike: This is a short but strenuous hike! Make sure you are wearing footwear that’s grippy and can support steep ascents.
- Decisions, Decisions: You can take an easier way back down, which we did. You can also go back the way you came, which I suspect is quite tricky.
- Fun Fact: Locals told us the record for this hike is 15 minutes!
